Today's Challenge at Make My Monday was chosen by Pryia and the theme she has chosen is " Go Green-Upcycle". I haven't made a card this time but have used an oak stave that would have ended up in the wood burning stove to make a holder for tealights.
We live in the North East of Scotland near the Whisky Trail where Distilleries abound, there are 7 working and 1 historic in a small area. Distilleries are supported by Cooperages, and there are 2 nearby,1 where barrels are repaired, and 1 who make them new as well as make repairs.
Below a stave which is no longer suitable for use
Sanded using hubby's orbital sander, the oak cleans up with a bit of care and sanding, I then marked the position I wanted to put the tea-lights and using a 40mm circle hole cutter, cut to the depth of the tea-light. Poor hubby was on tenterhooks the whole time, not sure whether he was worried about me or his tools though.
Pop over to the Challenge Blog for some inspiration and see the fabulous makes there.
