Christmas Deer

The whole family spent the weekend together for the first time since last Christmas,  visiting the West Coast of Scotland, travelling through some beautiful countryside on our journey from the East Coast. On Sunday we took a return trip on the Jacobite Express "The Harry Potter Train" from Fort William to Mallaig travelling in a six seat First Class Compartment I remember these  from my childhood and it brought back many fond memories. The journey over the Glenfinnan Viaduct was spectacular, you can see the leading part of the train on it from further back on the train. My sons both filmed the journey but I forgot to ask them for some pics of the viaduct. The pics below are of Loch Laggan.

A Christmas card just for the fun of it today, image and papers from the Making cards Christmas Special 2016, poinsettia die by Tattered Lace.

Thank you to everyone for visiting and the comments you leave, I appreciate the time you take to do so.

"Second Time Around" (recycle)is Carol's choice for the challenge at CD Sunday today, that should give plenty of scope for your imagination, I used an image from Making cards free CD 2016 and teamed it with papers from Robert Addams CD Rom Printable Gingham, Polka Dot, Check and Tartan Backing Papers. My recycled element is the corrugated card , the holder with my take away coffee.

Remember you must use something from a Cd and to let us know which Cd you used in order to win a prize or be in the top 3. Please visit the Challenge Blog and take a peek at the team's cards, look forward to seeing your cards there or on our Facebook page

The First Challenge at Back to Basics and Beyond, Matting and Layering

Many thanks to Caz who asked me to join her new challenge blog, Back to Basics and Beyond, please pop over and join our first challenge.

The aim of this blog is to provide inspiration for techniques which may not be being used, they are either not known, especially to beginners, or have been forgotten by seasoned crafters. It is intended for those who play along, to use the same technique as that described in the challenge.

Our first challenge is matting and layering. The technique is quite simple, build up your chosen image onto other papers or coloured card, that forms the mat, you can cut your mat to any size you wish, leaving a narrow or wide border around your image.

This time around I have made a one layer card. I prefer a narrow mat, which you can see on my completed card. I have deliberately left my card without embellishment, so that the matting and layering can be easily seen.

The basic shaped mats can be cut with a paper trimmer, guillotine or dies, When using a paper trimmer or guillotine make sure that you cut from a square edge to ensure you cut your mat perfectly, purchased paper and cards should have perfect 90 degree angles.

I hope you will join in our challenges, pop over to the blog to see cards from Jane and Caz.
