Glad Tidings

Apologies for the poor photo, we've had no sunshine all day and I didn't take this photo until 3pm.

There was a hard frost again this morning which hasn't lifted at all, had a great walk with the dog though, really crisp underfoot first thing.

Poinsettia

Stamp from Alota Stamps
Paper from Crafter's Companion Festive Occasions CD Rom
Spellbinder Poinsettia Die
Sentiment from Hobbycraft

It's really chilly here today it's now 12:50 and the grass is still covered in frost, fog on parts of the road too. A day to stay indoors or to wrap up really well and go for a long walk. Hubby and I went to Aberdeen the weekend before last to see The Imitation Game and both thought it was a powerful and moving film. We were in again last weekend as our younger son now works in Aberdeen and commutes daily, the first bus on a Sunday doesn't arrive in Aberdeen until after mid-day and he started at 11 o'clock so we decided to take him in, he does drive and has a car but parking is a nightmare and expensive. The city centre streets were closed at 5pm for the lights to be turned on and a market so something different.

Humbug!!

This card is for my younger son to give to his dad at Christmas. My husband would do anything for both boys but the younger is always teasing him saying he is "mean". I think this image is perfect, he's certainly not a happy chap, Hubby appreciates James's sense of humour so I'm sure will love this.

We spent yesterday shopping in Aberdeen, even though we were there early the car parks were really busy and the shopping centre mobbed. However all that's left to buy for Christmas can be done on-line apart from the food shopping.
We had a nice afternoon with our son and his intended and were persuaded to buy an early wedding present for them!! my husband can be such a soft touch.

Glitter Wreath

I've had a really frustrating day trying to ensure HMRC update my NI records with my correct date of birth. I've provided them with certified copies of my birth and marriage certificates as well as my passport, this was over 2 months ago, and despite several calls, they seemed unable to move forward until I said I would be contacting my  M.P. Within an hour a call to say my records had been rectified (the data input to the computer system in 1975 when they started using computer records was wrong) and they would verify this in writing.

It was frustrating because each time you spoke to someone they gave you different information, and reassurances of return calls were never met. Between the automated service before you reach someone to talk to and the misinformation I felt like giving up at times, how on earth do the elderly cope??

still enough moaning.

Gentle, Joyous, Loving Season

The challenge at MAWTT was to create a winter themed card or Game of Thrones card. As we all love Game of Thrones I wanted to use this theme but just couldn't find the images and papers I wanted, hence a winter scene. I kept the colours soft to mirror the sentiment and am reasonably happy with the result.

We have a miserable wet morning here, so a day for the fireside with a good book, all the chores including the ironing are done, so plenty of time to relax.

Merry Christmas

Could you describe this as a simple vintage card ?? I'm fairly pleased with the way it turned out.

We have a bright morning here today, so I will probably spend some time sweeping up leaves and tidying in the garden. In between I am doing my son's washing, when I asked him if he had any yesterday he said no, he has now produced a laundry basket with at least 3 loads in it. I must have asked at an inconvenient time yesterday!!

Christmas Past

A Christmas Past card today I love all the embellishments that are on this style of card, but feel I need a bit more practise to really achieve the effect I am looking for. Another dull morning and on the chilly side autumn is definitely here, the dull mornings have turned into beautiful afternoons crisp and bright.

Despite the awful train journey last week I have a trip to Edinburgh planned for the end of the month where I am meeting one of my sisters to introduce her to an aunt who I met through undertaking my family tree last year. I have known for some time that my dad had a half sister and another family member in Canada  met through researching my tree heard from her after yet another relative in Canada had contact with her.

HO HO HO

I don't have any young nieces or nephews and this Santa has been printed off for ages, when I saw the colour challenge at 52 CCT I thought he was ideal. His hat is a softer shade of pink with a green stripe, the colours are not as bold as they appear in the photo. I decoupaged the trim and pom pom on his hat and his nose.

I was away for a few days visiting my mother, the journey down was awful what should have taken 3 1/2 hrs. with 1 change of train, took nearly 6 with 3 changes, 2 of them at Perth where passengers were shunted onto and then off a train because they couldn't move the train with passengers on it, I wonder who made the mistake. You would expect staff to know the rules.

Still I had a good few days and caught up with my brother and his family as well.

Santa's Hat and Boots

When I saw the sketch at 52 CCT this week I was stumped, then I remembered the snowman card above and used it to inspire me. These Hero Art stamps are one of the first I bought as well as the hat and boots there is a coat available. I was going to emboss around the hat and boots with a Spellbinder circular die but decided against it in the end.

Vintage Christmas

It's a long time since I made a vintage / shabby chic card, but it meant that I could use up lots of little bits of leftover paper.
Started the dreaded Christmas shopping as well this weekend, my gifts either need to ready for the second week in October, when I am going to Renfrewshire to visit my mother or be posted.
I am also going to Edinburgh at the end of October for the day taking the 6am train down arriving at 9.30 and returning on the 7.30 pm, it will be a long day , train tickets are booked and I am looking forward to the day out shopping.

Quick and Simple

A really simple and quite plain card for a few challenges.

Time for crafting has been very limited I have been catching up on recording lots of information in my family tree, still need to make a few trips to the library in a nearby town to see if I can have an article  from the local newspaper microfiche from 1898 copied, I would like to take it to a family member who was unaware of this great uncle. If they can't copy it I will take notes then type them up.

Snow Flake

Hubby and James were in Aberdeen yesterday bringing home more boxes for Douglas and Vicki's move, everything will be loaded into my neighbours van then back to Aberdeen. Their new flat is on Union St. and there are loads of parking restrictions, so it was decided to try and drop everything with one stop. Hubby has phoned the Traffic warden dept. and has permission to unload in the evening.
Here's hoping it all goes according to plan.

Snowmen

Two cheery snowmen to brighten a miserable morning here in North East Scotland. We had a beautiful day yesterday but it is really dreich today.

Many thanks to all those who sent their best wishes to hubby. He's recovering well after his altercation with a Highland cow, the stiffness and bruises are beginning to ease and fade, He still has headaches from the bump to his forehead and feels washed out. We are both grateful it wasn't a lot worse.
Heading to Aberdeen later to bring home boxes our son has packed in preparation for his move to a new flat, we're also inheriting 4 snakes, I have handled one of them before but am not looking forward to feeding them.

Jenni

Apologies that this card is similar to one entered into challenges last week, when I made the original card I also coloured this stamp, due to being very busy I don't have time to craft as much this week and this card fits several challenges.
Hubby unfortunately had an altercation with a Highland cow on Thursday, he was going to help our neighbour trim them after the vet had sedated them. The sedation didn't knock them out and when the vet was administering a further dose of sedation one of them charged out of the enclosure knocking down the gate and fence, taking with it my husband and our neighbours son. Jim describes flying through the air then landing against a strainer post hitting his hip, arm and head. He also tore his back on the barbed wire fence, his jacket and t-shirt were ripped beyond repair but his cashmere jumper had only the tiniest hole in it, explain that to me. He also managed to hit his forehead on a beam after getting up .
His tetanus jabs weren't up to date and he reluctantly agreed to go to the local hospital to have one and be checked over. He's now really stiff and sore and has a beautiful array of bruises.
